About Us
History
The Los Alamos Photography Club was founded in March, 2002 by local photographers Phillip and Monica Noll, Danny Gallant, Jim Gautier, Larry Campbell, and T.K. Thompson. The club was founded to stimulate interest in the art and craft of photography within the Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico region, to provide an opportunity for photographers to meet and exchange ideas and information, to encourage members to develop their photographic skills, and to exhibit and publicize the work of members.
Photographic Interests
Members of the club have varied interests and use a variety of tools. Many members of the club specialize in nature, wildlife, and landscape photography whereas others focus on portraits, still lifes, and travel photography. All camera types from film to digital and from 35mm to large format are represented. Club members are a source of expertise regarding traditional chemical darkroom process as well as the latest methods and tools in the digital darkroom.
Meeting Times
The club meets at 7:00pm on the third Monday of every month upstairs in The Art Center at Fuller Lodge. Take the outside stairs at the south end of the building (facing Ashley Pond).
Club Activities
Club activities include monthly meetings, critique sessions, guest speakers, field trips, workshops, and the coordination of the annual Los Alamos Photographer's Show which is held every Winter in the upstairs gallery of the Mesa Public Library in Los Alamos.
Membership
Club dues are $12 per year; since the Los Alamos Photography Club is a sub-group of the Los Alamos Art Center, membership in the parent organization is also required.
